KneeSIM is a powerful model of a single leg attached to a simulated Oxford rig, with accurate representation of the bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons so that the TKR system to be analyzed can be positioned and tested. Every aspect of the knee’s motion and dynamics are available to help understand the mechanics. Various design parameters, such as geometry, surgical placement, or patient variables, ensure design robustness. Accurate simulations can be run in as little as five minutes with complete kinematic and dynamic data results.
With KneeSIM, users can quickly import implant device geometries and run them through a variety of industry-standard virtual test events. Deep knee bends, ISO gait, and lunge events are all built into KneeSIM. The software gives the designer unmatched flexibility to assess wear issues and employ loads and detailed finite element analysis to verify results and redesign the structure.

Accurate, extensible, and built on industrial-grade simulation technology, KneeSIM is readily integrated into existing computer-aided engineering (CAE) workflows. KneeSIM imports and exports complex product geometry from most computer-aided design (CAD) systems, including CATIA, Pro/E, SolidWorks, Unigraphics, and others. It also easily imports engineering-formatted data from MRI and CT scans.
LifeMOD’s powerful post-processing capabilities make it simple to create clear, concise reports and attention-grabbing presentations, complete with animations, plots, and charts, allowing stakeholders to truly grasp the ‘what, why, how and when’ of an implant’s performance. Standard plots based on published knee data automate plot development and help engineers easily target performance goals for comparison.
